The years 2022-2023 were a rollercoaster of ups and downs for me. I faced challenges that sidetracked me from my life’s purpose, leaving me feeling lost in the darkness. But through the struggles, I emerged stronger and wiser, ready to rebuild myself.
One day, feeling adrift and unsure of what to do next, I realized I had my camera with me. It wasn’t something I used much beyond capturing travel memories, but in that moment, it felt like a lifeline. With some free time during my university co-op, I decided to venture out into the streets of Toronto, camera in hand.
Exploring some of the city’s iconic views, I found joy in capturing the beauty of the world around me. From bustling streets to tranquil parks, I snapped away, finding peace in the act of creation. But it wasn’t just the scenery that caught my eye – it was the people.
Using the zoom feature on my camera, I became an unintentional observer of life’s moments. From afar, I watched as people laughed, cried, and went about their daily lives. Each click of the shutter revealed a new scene, a new story waiting to be told.
Through photography, I learned to see the world in a different light. It wasn’t just about capturing pretty pictures – it was about capturing life itself. In those moments behind the lens, I felt connected to something bigger than myself. I saw the beauty in the mundane, the magic in the everyday.
